About the position

The Floater Pharmacist is responsible for packaging and dispensing prescribed medications in a clinical environment, managing pharmacy operations, and ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations. This role involves floating between two locations in McAllen and Harlingen, Texas, and requires collaboration with healthcare providers to ensure optimal patient care. The position emphasizes maintaining high-quality pharmaceutical services while upholding patient confidentiality and a professional workplace atmosphere.

Responsibilities

  • Package and dispense prescribed drugs in a clinical environment.
  • Handle incoming physician calls and log data into the computer.
  • Perform Rx workflow processing and conduct drug utilization reviews.
  • Manage pharmacy operations and maintain quality pharmaceutical care.
  • Properly dispense, order, and maintain inventory of drugs and supplies.
  • Direct activities and workflow efficiency of pharmacy staff.
  • Collaborate with physicians regarding potential incompatibility issues with prescriptions.
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal pharmacy laws and regulations.
  • Stay updated on changing laws and new pharmacy-related programs.
  • Consult with clinic providers and maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA.
  • Uphold a clean and customer-friendly workplace, projecting a professional attitude.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Doctoral (PharmD) degree in Pharmacy from an accredited university.
  • Pharmacist license in good standing in the State of TX.
  • Completion of an ACPE accredited immunization training program.
  • 1+ year of full-time retail or clinic pharmacy experience preferred.
  • 340B experience preferred.
  • AAHIVP certification preferred.
  • Certifications in different areas of Pharmacy a plus.
  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office with typing speed of 30+ wpm.
  • Excellent interpersonal, customer-service, managerial, and communication skills.
  • Ability to efficiently work, mentor, and supervise staff in a fast-paced environment.
