About the position
The Times Union is looking for a full-time Forklift Operator to join our operations team. This position involves various tasks related to the loading and unloading of trucks, maintaining shipping and receiving records, and managing inventory of preprinted insert products and newsprint. The role also includes preparing newsprint for press use, organizing recyclable materials, and assisting other departments as needed.
Responsibilities
- Safely load and unload trucks as required
- Maintain accurate receiving and shipping records
- Inventory and stage preprinted insert products
- Manage newsprint scheduling, receiving, storage, and inventory
- Lay down and prepare required newsprint for press use
- Collect, organize, and store all recyclable materials
- Receive and distribute incoming packages
- Assist other departments, including Hearst Media Center as required
Requirements
- High School Diploma
- Communication skills – must be able to communicate professionally and effectively with delivery personnel, employees, and managers both verbally and via email
- Mechanical aptitude - Must possess (or be willing to be trained and pass a test to acquire) a valid forklift operator’s license
