About the position

The Front Desk Clerk at Daly Seven Inc. is responsible for providing excellent customer service to guests, managing check-ins and check-outs, and maintaining accurate records of transactions. This role requires a friendly demeanor, attention to detail, and the ability to handle cash and guest inquiries efficiently. The clerk will also assist with various administrative tasks and ensure the front desk area is well-maintained and secure.

Responsibilities

  • Greet guests and check them in and out with friendliness, speed, and accuracy.
  • Maintain all paperwork as required by your shift, initialing and dating when applicable.
  • Check registration cards for completeness, accuracy, and legibility.
  • Handle cash accurately, balancing the cash drawer and shift report.
  • Operate the switchboard and transfer calls as required, taking guest messages with accuracy.
  • Keep all business confidential on and off duty.
  • Know room rates, locations, and furnishings of all rooms.
  • Be ready to show prospective guests a room when necessary.
  • Lock and secure the desk area when required to leave.
  • Complete daily reports, statements, and correspondence as dictated by management.
  • Set wake-up calls and write time on the wake-up sheet if applicable.
  • Promote membership in the franchise’s membership club.
  • Assist guests in securing lodging by referrals when the hotel is full.
  • Be familiar with local attractions, restaurants, and events to provide directions.
  • Handle guest complaints effectively and politely.
  • Know emergency procedures and how to respond, including familiarity with the fire system.
  • Prepare room status reports and maid sheets when working night shifts.
  • Keep the lobby and office area clean at all times.
  • Know computer operations and procedures for shutdown when necessary.
  • Set up and maintain continental breakfast and make coffee properly.
  • Complete various forms and logs as required for the shift.
  • Adhere to policies regarding personal use of computer equipment and cell phones during work time.
  • Lift up to 30 pounds and stand for long periods, seeking assistance when necessary.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in a customer service role preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to handle cash and perform basic math calculations accurately.
  • Familiarity with hotel operations and reservation systems is a plus.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in the hospitality industry.
  • Knowledge of local attractions and events.
  • Bilingual skills are a plus.
