General Merchandise Team Leader

The role of a General Merchandise Team Leader can provide you with the skills and experience of guest service fundamentals and experience building a guest first culture on your team. Retail business fundamentals including: department sales trends, inventory management, guest shopping patterns, pricing and promotions strategies. No two days are ever the same, but a typical day most likely will include executing daily/weekly workload to deliver on department and store sales goals and guest engagement, including merchandising, pricing, setting and updating merchandise salesfloor displays, sampling, promotions and price change.

Responsibilities

• Execute daily/weekly workload to deliver on department and store sales goals and guest engagement.
• Educate your team on how operational procedures affect inventory management, store profitability, and product availability.
• Help assess reporting to identify gaps in GM processes and assist to develop a plan.
• Lead the daily execution of tasks such as receiving products, restocking shelves, and organizing the backroom.
• Assign daily tasks to team members based on planned workload and guest traffic patterns.
• Help establish clear goals and expectations and hold team members accountable.
• Support guest services such as back-up cashier and digital fulfillment processes.
• Model a culture of ethical conduct, safety and compliance.
• Lead and demonstrate a safety culture through modeling and recognizing safe behaviors.
• Create a welcoming experience by greeting guests and engaging with them.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Age 18 or older.
• Ability to lead and hold others accountable.
• Effective communication skills.
• Capability to remain focused and composed in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to manage workload and prioritize tasks independently.

Nice-to-haves

• Previous retail experience preferred, but not required.
