The Graphic Designer I position at the University of Alabama involves creating and implementing graphic design projects for the Alumni Affairs department. The designer will work under general supervision to develop layouts for various promotional media, ensuring that the designs effectively communicate ideas to the target audience.

Responsibilities

• Create and implement graphic design projects for the department and the University.
• Produce graphic designs and illustrations using computer and traditional methods.
• Format and edit text for various publications and media.
• Prepare layouts and specifications for pre-print publications and promotional materials.
• Develop layouts and production designs for advertisements, logos, brochures, magazines, reports, and social media content.
• Ensure designs adhere to National Alumni Association branding rules and University guidelines.
• Collaborate with other departments to ensure designs accurately reflect the desired message.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED and two years of experience in art, commercial art, graphic design, or visual communication; OR an associate's degree or higher with some relevant experience.
• Strong portfolio showcasing multiple examples of print and digital designs.
• Deadline-driven with the ability to apply creative direction.
• Ability to think and plan strategically as part of a team.
• Strong organizational and technical skills.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience preparing files for press printing.
• Familiarity with AI image generation.
• Experience using project management software (e.g., SharePoint, Wrike, Basecamp).
