About the position

The Heavy Equipment Operator position at George Nice & Sons involves operating various heavy machinery to perform grading tasks for construction and maintenance of earthwork structures. The role requires a skilled operator who can efficiently handle equipment such as dozers, excavators, loaders, backhoes, and bobcats, with a focus on fine grading to specifications. The ideal candidate will work in a team environment and ensure safety and precision in their operations.

Responsibilities

• Fine grade to specifications in construction and maintenance of earthwork structures, such as highways, streets, temporary roads, and site developments.
• Operate equipment at the required production pace while observing reference stakes or hand signals of assisting workers.
• Level surface to specified grade by observing grade stakes or other markings when operating machines.
• Safely operate machines and perform minor maintenance and upkeep of equipment.
• Assist in the placement, moving, and dismantling of signs, barricades, cones, and other traffic control devices.

Requirements

• 5+ years' experience operating heavy equipment specifically for fine grading.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
• Extensive physical ability to perform job tasks.
• Ability to understand and follow verbal communication and written instructions.
