About the position

The HVAC and Appliance Repair Technician position at MERC involves diagnosing, repairing, servicing, and installing HVAC equipment and appliances. This role requires emergency response to gas leaks and carbon monoxide calls, as well as performing inspections and preventative maintenance on HVAC systems. The technician will also promote and sell non-regulated service contracts and may be required to be on call 24/7 on a rotating basis. This position is part of a job family that includes Field Technician II and III roles, with experience being a key factor in determining the specific level.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, repair, service, and install appliances and HVAC equipment.
• Perform inspections and preventative maintenance on HVAC equipment.
• Investigate gas leaks and provide emergency response to all types of gas leaks and carbon monoxide calls.
• Promote and sell non-regulated service contracts (Service Choice).

Requirements

• High School Diploma, HSED, or GED.
• Valid driver's license and meet the company's driving requirements.
• One year of relevant experience for Field Technician III; three years for Field Technician II.
• Familiarity with natural gas distribution systems and gas meter maintenance and repair.
• Experience in installation, repair, and service of gas and electric heating appliances for residential and commercial customers.
• Knowledge of mechanical and/or electrical principles.
• Customer relations, customer service, and/or sales experience.
• Ability to operate electronic devices (computer, Toughpad, etc.).
• Select employees may need to obtain a commercial driver's license (CDL).
