About the position

The Infant/Toddler Teacher - Caregiver will create a safe and educational environment for infants and toddlers in the Early Head Start program. This role involves developing individual goals for children, assessing their progress, and facilitating transitions to preschool settings. The teacher will also support parents in their roles as primary caregivers and educators, encouraging their involvement in the program.

Responsibilities

  • Meet the needs of all children, including those at risk, with special needs, gifted, and culturally diverse.
  • Integrate all Early Head Start components into the classroom.
  • Develop and utilize daily plans that reflect mandated elements and promote children's development.
  • Individualize one-to-one and group activities to reflect the unique needs and strengths of all children.
  • Follow consistent routines including feeding, diapering, napping, and planned activities.
  • Encourage experimentation, exploration, problem solving, cooperation, socialization, and choice-making.
  • Provide an atmosphere that promotes parental involvement.
  • Work with agencies to develop specialized planning for children and families.
  • Coordinate with special needs staff to benefit all children in the classroom.
  • Supervise and monitor children at all times and respond to emergencies.
  • Provide first aid or CPR and access emergency services as needed.
  • Participate in team meetings to plan and deliver collaborative services.
  • Meet regularly with parents and staff regarding each child's status and progress.
  • Conduct regular home visits for assessment and support.
  • Plan and conduct parent meetings with team members.
  • Communicate frequently with parents and staff, serving as a liaison with community services.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma required.
  • Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or comparable credential in early childhood development with a focus on infant and toddler development.
  • Two years' experience in a preschool (infant/toddler) classroom.

  • Experience adapting curriculum to meet the needs of all children, including at risk, special needs, and culturally diverse populations.
