About the position

The Information Officer in the Office of Undergraduate Admissions at Georgetown University plays a crucial role in managing public relations and ensuring effective communication with a diverse range of constituents. This position is pivotal due to the high volume of interactions with prospective students, parents, and other stakeholders, requiring a proactive approach to information dissemination and visitor management.

Responsibilities

  • Direct the student workers in their interactions with callers to the admissions office.
  • Oversee the schedules of the student workers who staff the Phone Room and admissions office front desk.
  • Respond daily to email communications from various office constituents that come to the main admissions email account.
  • Train the student workforce to use Slate (the admissions information system) to track pertinent information and respond to callers' inquiries.
  • Assist the Director of Campus Programs in managing the event registration process through Slate, keeping the phone room neat and clean.
  • Occasionally staff the admissions office reception desk.
  • Greet and assist each person who enters the admissions office, notifying the Dean and Director of any visitors or callers.
  • Set up the seminar room for daily information sessions, including preparation of audio and video elements, restocking brochures and maps, and ensuring the room is arranged properly.
  • Ensure that the reception area and information session room are neat and clean at all times.
  • Schedule the daily use of the information session and conference rooms.
  • Accommodate special groups for information sessions and tours, confirming visits and arranging for tour guides when needed.
  • Assist the admissions officer 'on duty' in handling campus visitors and conducting information sessions.
  • Receive RSVPs for various office functions and generate lists of nametags for these functions.
  • Aid the campus programs team in securing tour guides when needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 2 years of relevant experience
  • College admissions experience or special training in a college/educational environment is highly desired.
