About the position

The Instructor of Criminal Justice at Central Piedmont Community College is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in the field of Criminal Justice. This role emphasizes mastery of subject matter, effective teaching performance, evaluation of student learning, and support of college policies. The instructor will engage in professional development, contribute to curriculum development, and participate in college activities to enhance the educational experience for students.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate thorough knowledge of Criminal Justice and related fields.
• Plan and organize instruction to maximize student learning.
• Employ appropriate teaching strategies to communicate subject matter effectively.
• Modify instructional methods to meet diverse student needs.
• Utilize instructional technology to enhance the educational experience.
• Encourage development of communication and higher-order thinking skills.
• Contribute to the selection and development of instructional materials.
• Develop and update course syllabi in a timely manner.
• Establish meaningful learning outcomes for courses.
• Evaluate student performance fairly and consistently.
• Maintain accurate records of student progress and submit grades on time.
• Teach classes in a multi-campus environment as assigned.
• Serve as a faculty advisor and maintain regular office hours.
• Participate in college, divisional, and program committees and activities.
• Support the college's mission and contribute to its growth.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Criminal Justice Technology or related field OR a Master's degree plus 18 graduate semester hours in Criminal Justice Technology or related field.
• Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills in communication with students and colleagues.
