About the position

The laser technician will be integral to the exploratory development and commercialization of various projects, providing essential product development support. This role involves prototyping and transforming concepts into reality, troubleshooting laser motion and toolpath, and enhancing efficiency through process modifications. The technician will collaborate with engineers and vendors, train product builders, and write technical reports, contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Establish and troubleshoot laser motion or toolpath to enable laser cut processes.
• Identify and resolve process, material, or equipment issues.
• Modify existing and develop new tooling and fixtures.
• Revise documents, processes, and methods to enhance efficiency.
• Collaborate with vendors and suppliers to procure and install tooling, fixtures, and equipment.
• Partner with engineers on continuous improvement projects.
• Train and provide technical support or guidance to product builders and other technicians.
• Write and execute validation protocols and technical reports.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of professional experience in a relevant field.
• CAD-CAM 5-axis programming or equivalent experience.
• CAD experience, preferably with Solidworks.
• Experience with laser cutting systems and associated tooling needs.
• Opto-mechanical system experience, including laser alignment and focus.
• Experience with metals and/or polymer material processing.
• Fixture and equipment design or troubleshooting experience.
• Experience with motion controllers.
• Process optimization experience.
• Strong mechanical aptitude.
• Ability to work well in a team environment across functions and sites.
• Experience in the medical device or other regulated industries.
