About the position

The Lead Patient Service Representative at Barnes-Jewish Hospital plays a crucial role in managing front office activities and directing patient flow within the physician office. This position serves as a subject matter expert, providing training to new and junior team members, and acts as the primary point of contact in the absence of a supervisor. The role involves verifying health insurance information, educating patients, and ensuring accurate data entry of service charges.

Responsibilities

  • Verifies health insurance payment information and educates patients on applicable regulations; collects payments and records data.
  • Performs data entry of service charges, including the assignment of diagnostic codes and entering all physician and clinic related charges.
  • Coordinates information with the Central Billing Office to ensure all charges are captured and properly collected.
  • Serves as a subject matter expert; answers general and technical questions from other staff members; helps make decisions and resolve complex issues.
  • Provides training and support to both new and existing staff.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 2-5 years of experience in a related field.

Nice-to-haves

  • 5-10 years of experience in a related field
  • Epic experience preferred.
