About the position

Cisco ThousandEyes is a Digital Experience Assurance platform that empowers organizations to deliver flawless digital experiences across every network – even the ones they don’t own. Powered by AI and an unmatched set of cloud, internet and enterprise network telemetry data, ThousandEyes enables IT teams to proactively detect, diagnose, and remediate issues – before they impact end-user experiences. ThousandEyes is deeply integrated across the entire Cisco technology portfolio and beyond, helping customers deploy at scale while also delivering AI-powered assurance insights within Cisco’s leading Networking, Security, Collaboration, and Observability portfolios. The Alerts team focuses on building a highly scalable stream processing platform to detect anomalies and provide actionable insights to our customers. We work on problems such as providing granular and intuitive controls to configure alerting rules, and building and deploying multiple stream processing platforms. We use technologies such as Flink, Kafka, Debezium, Elasticache etc. to execute multiple complex rules and statistical models to detect anomalies across billions of events. As part of this team, you will contribute to the real-time data platform, build microservices that power critical business workflows, make sure systems are operational, and adhere to strict SLAs. Alerts platform is critical for our customers to act on potential problems in their mission-critical systems. Responsibilities

  • Build a real-time data processing platform that handles billions of events daily.
  • Develop cutting-edge anomaly detection algorithms.
  • Construct high-performance micro-services.
  • Maintain services in a FedRAMP compliant environment.
  • Ensure systems are operational and adhere to strict SLAs.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of software development experience.
  • Expert-level understanding of object-oriented programming languages such as Java, Kotlin, Scala, etc.
  • Strong Computer Science fundamentals and object-oriented design skills.
  • Proven leadership in guiding software development teams.
  • History of building large-scale data processing systems.
  • Background working in a fast-paced development environment.
  • Strong team collaboration and communication skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or similar.

Nice-to-haves

  • Exposure to building large-scale real-time streaming pipelines using Kafka, Flink, or Spark.
  • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud technologies (AWS, GCP).
  • Understanding of network protocols.
