About the position

The LPN (Per Diem) position at Straight and Narrow involves providing compassionate care to individuals in residential and outpatient treatment facilities. The role is crucial in assisting Registered Nurses and ensuring the safe administration of medications and documentation of patient care. This position offers flexible shifts, allowing for work across all hours, including mornings, evenings, and nights.

Responsibilities

• Assists the Registered Nurse.
• Conducts telephone and walk-in screenings.
• Dispenses medications to Detox clients and residential clients as per doctor's order.
• Records Doctor's written orders on the medication sheet.
• Orders prescribed medication from the pharmacy.
• Answers and monitors calls, both in-house and outside calls properly.
• Reports all problems and concerns to the RN on duty.
• Counts controlled dangerous substances and records them.
• Maintains par levels on all stock medications.
• Maintains syringe count according to Straight and Narrow policy and procedure.
• Maintains documentation in nurse's notes.
• Attends all scheduled nurse's meetings and in-services.
• Interviews clients upon admission to obtain information on medical history and substance abuse history for RN assessment notes.
• Maintains a safe environment for all clients and is familiar with disaster and fire drills.
• Follows up with medical slip issues.
• Participates in discharge planning in conjunction with RN and the counselor.

Requirements

• Graduate from an approved School of Nursing.
• Medical/Surgical experience.
• Current license as an LPN in the state of NJ.
• Knowledge of transcribing doctor's orders is essential.
• Good interpersonal skills are essential.
