About the position

The Machine Operator/Machinist position involves operating CNC machines to produce machined parts while adhering to quality and safety standards. This role requires proficiency in machine operation, inspection of parts, and maintenance of equipment, with opportunities for direct hire based on experience.

Responsibilities

• Proficient in machine operation
• Loads raw materials and unloads completed parts
• Required to operate multiple machines simultaneously
• Performs inspection of own parts and co-worker's work
• Follows instructions when selecting appropriate tooling and fixtures
• Uses measurement tools such as snap gage, digital calipers, micrometers, and optical comparator
• Adjusts tooling & work offsets
• Minor editing of current program
• Able to run select machines in department
• Able to adjust to assure dimensions, tolerances, and quality of parts
• Performs preventative maintenance on equipment including top-off lubricants
• Cleaning responsibilities including equipment, chip removal, and work area
• Follows established procedures as well as quality and safety standards
• Maintains a safe work environment
• Works under supervision
• Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor

Requirements

• Good working knowledge of trigonometry, geometry, basic math and measuring instruments
• Basic understanding of G&M programming codes
• Good understanding of machining practices
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong problem-solving skills
• Motivated and shows willingness to learn
• Team player who works in cooperation with others
• Demonstrates a strong mechanical aptitude
