About the position

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing routine and preventative maintenance, repair, and upkeep of building systems, equipment, and facilities. This role ensures the efficient operation, safety, and longevity of all physical assets through inspections, repairs, and collaborative problem solving.

Responsibilities

  • Perform a variety of hands-on maintenance and repairs, including carpentry, electrical, mechanical, HVAC, plumbing, painting, and grounds maintenance.
  • Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance on equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  • Report faulty operations, defective materials, system failures, and major issues to the Maintenance Manager.
  • Provide regular updates on maintenance operations.
  • Maintain accurate records of work completed on equipment and machinery.
  • Respond promptly to work orders and maintenance requests from staff.
  • Assist with the installation and set-up of new equipment or appliances.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and local codes while following safety protocols during all maintenance activities.
  • Participate in training sessions to stay updated on procedures, safety protocols, and maintenance policies.
  • Perform janitorial, landscaping, or minor carpentry duties as needed.
  • Assist in maintaining a clean, organized, and operational building or facility.
  • Collaborate with other departments, including the warehouse, to meet maintenance and project needs.
  • Install new equipment, upgrade systems, and address urgent issues promptly.
  • Support the maintenance of safe working standards.
  • Coordinate with external contractors and vendors for specialized repairs or services, assist with obtaining quotes.
  • Foster effective communication across departments and teams.
  • Perform related duties and assist others as required or assigned by the Maintenance Manager.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment.
  • Maintain a professional, courteous, and approachable appearance and demeanor at all times.

Requirements

  • Must pass a pre-employment background check and drug screening.
  • Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
  • Strong problem solving and trouble shooting skills with ability to multi-task, prioritize, and work independently or as part of a team.
  • Ability to read and comprehend checklists, complex instructions, memos, etc.
  • Ability to apply mathematical concepts such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to use a variety of hand and power tools and proficient in Microsoft Office programs and logistic software.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational, and communication, both written and verbal.

Nice-to-haves

  • High school diploma or equivalent (additional technical certifications in maintenance or related fields preferred).
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish, preferred.
  • Certification in electrical, plumbing, or HVAC is a plus.
