About the position

The Manager in Training at Hibbett Sports, Inc. is responsible for assisting the Store Manager with overall operations and administrative duties. This role involves promoting outstanding customer service, managing store responsibilities in the absence of the Store Manager, and ensuring the store meets its goals and initiatives. The Manager in Training is expected to be knowledgeable about all product areas and to create a unique customer experience that fosters long-term customer relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Store Manager in controlling the assets of Hibbett I City Gear.
  • Consult with the Store Manager to establish action plans for departmental responsibilities such as selling, restocking, merchandising, ordering, and scheduling.
  • Assume responsibility for the entire store in the absence of the Store Manager.
  • Provide knowledge and guidance to employees and customers in all departments when necessary.
  • Monitor inventory, sales statistics, and expenses to ensure profitability in all departments.
  • Direct staff to ensure departmental responsibilities and standards are completed.
  • Keep the Store Manager informed about inventory movement and customer trends.
  • Ensure quality customer service is maintained.
  • Perform general administrative duties as needed and be trained in the Store Manager's responsibilities.
  • Deliver extraordinary customer service as outlined in the customer service manual.
  • Promote and sell services and merchandise provided by Hibbett I City Gear.
  • Uphold all Hibbett I City Gear policies, procedures, and standards as listed in various manuals and memos.
  • Protect the company's assets and financial information by ensuring the accuracy of internal control procedures.

Requirements

  • Experience working in a retail environment, preferably in footwear and athletic apparel.
  • 1-3 years of customer service experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to assist in managing a team and meet overall goals and profits.
  • Self-starter with initiative to take on important tasks without being asked.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Team player, passionate about outstanding customer service and selling merchandise.
