About the position

Shive-Hattery Architecture and Engineering is seeking a Marketing Intern to join our team this summer. This position is part time, approximately 20 hours per week. You will be working in our Quad Cities office and part of the Commercial Creative Strategy team that supports design impacting where we live, work, and play. Shive-Hattery is an architecture and engineering firm known for helpfulness and high-quality design. People seek out architecture and engineering services like ours for one of two main reasons: They have a new building to design or space to renovate – a school, workplace, a bridge, a hotel, a factory, or even a park or trail. They have a problem they need fixed – they need more collaboration space at work, deteriorating concrete in a parking lot, or they need to have EV charging stations for their fleet. As our Marketing Intern, you won’t need to solve these problems – that’s what the architects and engineers are for! Your job will be to partner with them to translate their technical solutions into beautiful, clear proposal materials that persuade clients to choose us over our competitors.

Responsibilities

  • Write resumes, proposals and other marketing pieces that show clients we understand and can solve their unique problems.
  • Conduct market research to understand our client’s headspace and priorities.
  • Manage data to understand how customer information is stored and accessed in a corporate environment.
  • Interface with architects, engineers, and other technical staff to understand their roles and the value they bring to clients.
  • Audit and update marketing materials of various mediums.

Requirements

  • Strong writing ability.
  • Proactive communication – Keep supervisor, teammates, and clients up to date on your projects, and communicate early if something goes amiss.
  • Demonstrated accountability and follow-through.
  • Creative problem-solving.
  • Ability to edit and revise documents in Adobe InDesign.
  • Ability to make compelling presentations in PowerPoint.

Nice-to-haves

  • Entering junior or senior year of college as a full-time student with a major in English, Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or a related field.
  • For community or technical college students, entering their second year.

Benefits

  • Collaborative Culture: Opportunities to learn from and teach others, working across disciplines to grow your skills and advance your professional development.
  • Flexible Work Environment: Support for a flexible work environment that balances personal and professional responsibilities.
  • Commitment to Diversity and Inclusion: An equal opportunity employer committed to creating a diverse and inclusive workplace.
