GFT Ready Mix is a rapidly growing, family-run business founded in 1999, built on a team-oriented culture and supportive atmosphere. We are seeking an Evening Mechanic Helper to support the shop and our field maintenance team with the repair, service and upkeep of company vehicles and equipment, including ready mix trucks, dump trucks, pneumatics, loaders, and other heavy equipment. The ideal candidate is hands-on, possesses basic mechanical knowledge, has a willingness to learn and a strong focus on safety and reliability.

  • Assist mechanics in performing preventative maintenance and repairs on company trucks and equipment.
  • Prepare work areas, tools, and parts needed for repairs.
  • Perform basic maintenance tasks such as greasing, oil changes, tire checks, and fluid top-offs.
  • Help diagnose mechanical issues by observing and reporting unusual noises, leaks, or performance problems.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the shop and work areas.
  • Operate tools and equipment safely under supervision.
  • Assist with parts runs, inventory, and restocking of supplies.
  • Comply with all company safety standards, DOT regulations, and environmental policies.
  • Support mechanics during emergency roadside or jobsite repairs as needed.
  • Basic knowledge of hand tools and mechanical practices.
  • Previous experience working around heavy equipment and repair is a plus but not required.
  • Ability to lift up to 75lbs and perform physically demanding tasks.
  • Comfort with working at heights, confined spaces and in varied weather conditions.
  • Willingness to learn and take direction from our shop team.
  • Must be 20 years of age or older.
  • Must have a valid Driver’s License.
  • Must have a safe driving record.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screening.
  • Must pass a background check.
  • Safety conscious.
  • Positive attitude and a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to operate heavy equipment a plus.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, which could include overtime, overnights and/or weekends.
  • Ability to advance into a full mechanic position through on-the-job training and hands-on experience.
  • Get paid weekly.
  • Hourly pay, between $18-23/hr DOE.
  • All training is paid, and we offer full benefits within 45 days of employment, or sooner.
