About the position

The Medication Technician provides medication assistance and personal care to the residents of the community, following the guidelines provided by Park Avenue Lifestyle. This role supports the mission, vision, and goals of the organization, upholding and promoting the company culture and vision. The technician is responsible for completing documentation per Park Avenue standards to ensure that all care services are provided and that resident needs are met. They participate in narcotic counts, administer medications, maintain cleanliness of the medication room, and ensure timely communication with families regarding medication reorders. The technician also documents resident conditions, assists in creating and maintaining resident charts, and participates in community wellness programs. They are expected to maintain confidentiality and complete all mandatory training.

Responsibilities

  • Supports the mission, vision, and goals of the organization.
  • Completes documentation per Park Avenue standards.
  • Participates in narcotic count at shift change.
  • Completes administration of medication as directed.
  • Participates in weekly medication cart audits.
  • Assists in re-ordering of medication.
  • Maintains cleanliness of medication room.
  • Ensures new medication orders are faxed to the pharmacy.
  • Informs families when mail order medicines need to be reordered.
  • Follows Physician Order Protocol.
  • Documents and reports any resident change of condition/status.
  • Assists in creating and maintaining resident charts/care files.
  • Participates in community Wellness Programs.
  • Obtains and records residents’ vital signs.
  • Observes resident to detect response to medications.
  • Schedules doctor’s appointments based on resident needs.
  • Assures call lights are answered in a timely manner.
  • Attends training courses and maintains up to date training.
  • Addresses associate, family, and resident concerns.
  • Is knowledgeable of fire evacuation and disaster policy.
  • Maintains confidentiality of personal and health information.
  • Demonstrates understanding of compliance and ethics program.
  • Completes all mandatory compliance, HIPAA and regulatory training.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED or 1-2 years of relevant experience.
  • Be at least 18 years of age.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
  • HCA/CNA Certified (Required).
  • Nurse Delegation Core and Nurse Delegation Diabetes certificates (Preferred).
  • Must meet all health requirements.
  • CPR & First Aid certification (Required).
  • Food Worker Card (Required).
  • Strong understanding of the English language sufficient to read and write.
