About the position

The MEP Unit Manager at Gray Construction is responsible for overseeing the Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) services within the Data Center market. This role involves managing multiple complex projects, ensuring financial success, maintaining project schedules, and fostering strong relationships with clients and team members. The MEP Unit Manager plays a critical role in project planning, execution, and administration, while also mentoring project staff and ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate customer and team meetings, ensuring detailed minutes and action items are updated and distributed.
  • Monitor project progress, identifying issues early during budget/cost reviews and developing corrective actions.
  • Oversee the project MEP Services team in developing and maintaining the project master schedule.
  • Ensure all contractual terms and conditions are understood by all parties involved in the project.
  • Act as the primary customer contact and account manager, developing relationship management plans.
  • Mentor and train MEP Services personnel, ensuring adequate training is provided to junior staff.
  • Ensure project staff maintain a cooperative work environment with engineering and design staff.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university, or a minimum of ten years related experience and/or training.
  • Minimum of seven consecutive years of profit and loss accountability on multiple projects.
  • Minimum of five years of experience managing design/build projects or hard bid projects.
  • Experience in various contracting methods such as lump sum, GMP, cost plus construction management, and fee-based construction.
  • Knowledge of legal aspects and implications of contractual language.
  • Proven record in increasing project profitability from initial project profit margins.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in managing projects with a total value exceeding two million dollars.
  • Knowledge of costs associated with discrete equipment components and systems.
  • Familiarity with scheduling and estimating applications.
