Networking Software Engineer

About the position

The role involves building, deploying, and operating high availability next generation LAN/WAN Network and Cloud connected Networking Systems. Responsibilities include managing network automation solutions, maintaining network device infrastructure, and ensuring robust daily network operations. The position requires a strong focus on security posture and compliance with IBM Security standards. The candidate will monitor and troubleshoot network infrastructure problems, apply engineering excellence to deployments, and collaborate with various stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Build, deploy and operate high availability next generation LAN/WAN Network and Cloud connected Networking Systems
• Build and manage network automation solutions (Cisco, Palo Alto), based on Tufin, Panorama and Ansible
• Deploy, maintain and manage network device infrastructure (routers, aggregation switches, end-user switches)
• Deploy, maintain and manage Next Generation security platforms (Firewall/IPS) and network security compartments
• Assure optimized and robust daily network operations for network and cloud network infrastructure
• Maintain a strong security posture, currency levels and compliance according to IBM Security standards
• Monitor, troubleshoot, mitigate and resolve network infrastructure problems and service interruptions
• Apply engineering and operations excellence to deployments
• Analyze data from tools to determine areas of improvement
• Iteratively optimize, improve & enhance existing systems and infrastructure
• Collect data for analysis and data-driven recommendations
• Collaborate and maintain strong working relationships with IBM partners, stakeholders, vendors, IBM Cloud and Research Emerging Technology
• Master and utilize various IBM and vendor network utilities
• IP address and subnet management
• Create and provide recurring network reports based on network statistics and analytics
• Network Change, Configuration and Performance Management

Requirements

• High School Diploma/GED
• 3-5 years of demonstrated solid experience in a TCP/IP based Network Engineering position with a focus on Cisco, NVIDIA and Palo Alto Networking
• Experience with network automation and building/deploying network and firewall automation solutions based on Ansible, Palo Alto Panorama and Tufin
• Skilled in Network Security operations, including configuration and deployment of Cisco and Palo Alto based firewall and IPS systems
• Experience with network routing protocols, BGP, OSPF, MLPS

Nice-to-haves

• Bachelor's Degree
• CCNA or CCIE certification
• 2-3 years of experience with network automation and building/deploying network and firewall automation solutions based on Ansible and Tufin
• 5-7 years of demonstrated success in the design/architecture of TCP/IP, Cisco, NVIDIA and Palo Alto based networks and cloud networks
