About the position

The Occupational Therapist (OT) position at Eastern Iowa Rehabilitation Hospital is a PRN role focused on providing specialized care to patients in need of rehabilitation. The OT will be a vital member of an interdisciplinary team, responsible for assessing patient needs, implementing appropriate therapy interventions, and ensuring optimal patient outcomes in a supportive environment dedicated to superior patient care.

Responsibilities

• Assumes responsibility and accountability for the care of patients treated by Certified Occupational Therapist Assistants, rehabilitation technicians, and occupational therapy students.
• Assesses patients' needs and initiates appropriate occupational therapy interventions.
• Works cooperatively with other patient team personnel to maintain standards for professional occupational therapy practice and interdisciplinary teamwork.
• Observes and evaluates treatment effects and recommends changes to the physician if needed.
• Performs assessments and reassessments on each patient as per policy, including accurate and timely QI scoring.
• Assesses patient pain and makes appropriate interventions to reduce pain, contacting physicians as necessary.
• Performs all aspects of patient care in a safe environment that minimizes healthcare errors.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Current licensure as an Occupational Therapist in the state of Iowa.
• Effective oral and written communication skills in English; additional languages preferred.
• Current CPR/BLS certification.
