About the position

The Patient Care Technician (PCT) at Madison Capital Clinic in Fitchburg is an entry-level position that provides essential support in the delivery of safe and effective dialysis therapy under the supervision of licensed nurses. The role involves direct patient interaction, ensuring a high standard of customer service, and participating in quality enhancement programs. The PCT will be trained in dialysis procedures and is expected to maintain a clean and safe working environment while adhering to regulatory and company policies.

Responsibilities

• Assist in providing patient-specific education regarding dialysis adequacy measures.
• Welcome assigned patients and inquire about their well-being since their last treatment.
• Evaluate vascular access for patency and report findings to the nurse supervisor.
• Obtain necessary pre and post-treatment vital signs and weight, reporting unusual findings.
• Perform vascular access evaluation pre-treatment and report any unusual findings.
• Perform vascular access cannulation and report any difficulties or unusual findings.
• Administer Heparin as delegated or allowed by state law.
• Initiate dialysis treatment according to prescribed orders.
• Evaluate intradialytic problems and provide intervention as prescribed.
• Monitor patients' response to dialysis therapy and report any unusual findings.

Requirements

• Entry-level position with training provided in dialysis procedures.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a healthcare team.
• Strong communication skills for effective patient interaction and customer service.
