About the position

The Peer Recovery Support Specialist at Right Step LLC is a full-time role focused on providing frontline care to individuals battling addiction. This position serves as a mentor, advocate, and motivator, helping clients develop healthy lifestyles and recovery management skills. The specialist will facilitate peer support groups, provide education, and collaborate with program leadership to enhance treatment services.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate weekly peer support groups that promote self-advocacy and allow patients to express their experiences.
  • Utilize evidence-based addiction peer support approaches to assist clients experiencing dysfunction due to addiction.
  • Provide intervention and prevention support, including relapse prevention and referrals as needed.
  • Establish authentic peer-to-peer relationships with patients in the Residential program.
  • Provide recovery education and support throughout various recovery phases.
  • Collaborate with program leadership and staff to respect and understand patients' perspectives.
  • Develop peer-informed strategies for effective outreach and improved patient recruitment.
  • Participate in planning and implementation of Peer Recovery Support Services in treatment delivery.
  • Support and advocate for patients during the Intake and Orientation process.
  • Document all services accurately and timely according to standards and regulations.

Requirements

  • Substance Abuse Counseling Certification
  • Addiction counseling experience
  • Management Certified Recovery Specialist
  • Mid-level mentoring experience
  • Positive attitude and capability to work in a team atmosphere
  • Knowledge of addiction and recovery processes
  • Comfortable with computers and software
  • Excellent documentation skills
  • Experience with Electronic Health Records
  • Cultural sensitivity and ability to work with diverse backgrounds
  • Ability to communicate inclusively

Nice-to-haves

  • Certified Peer Recovery Specialist - CPRS preferred
