About the position

Advocate Aurora Health is seeking a per diem Radiology Technologist to perform a variety of radiologic procedures under the direction of a Radiologist. This role involves both basic and advanced radiologic techniques, patient communication, and collaboration with healthcare providers to ensure quality patient care and accurate imaging results.

Responsibilities

  • Perform basic to advanced radiologic procedures under the direction of the Radiologist.
  • Communicate with patients to explain procedures and address any questions or concerns.
  • Position patients and select exposure factors for various radiologic examinations.
  • Provide patient radiation protection and safety in accordance with prescribed methods.
  • Identify patients and label images accurately, ensuring exam accuracy by comparing requisitions to physician's orders.
  • Process images ensuring quality of radiographs and call back patients as necessary.
  • Assist and consult with Radiologists and work independently with providers outside the department.
  • Prepare and maintain records in accordance with regulatory agencies and document billing codes for procedures performed.
  • Serve as a technical resource and role model for students and staff.
  • Facilitate clinical problem solving and collaborate with other departments for patient management education.
  • Perform patient positioning and transporting duties, utilizing proper lifting techniques.

Requirements

  • Radiographer license issued by the state of Wisconsin.
  • Registered Technologist (RT) registration issued by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) to be obtained within 6 months.
  • Advanced training in Radiologic Technology from an accredited program.
  • Typically requires 2 years of experience in a Radiologic Technologist role.
  • Proficient in radiology positioning and techniques, aseptic techniques, and C-arm operation.
  • Advanced knowledge of radiation safety and radiology equipment.
  • Knowledge of specialty physician protocols and ability to work effectively with diverse providers.
  • Advanced knowledge of anatomy.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and patient service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and possess intermediate computer skills.
