Responsibilities

  • Develop and coordinate clinical pharmacy services including antibiotic management, renal dosing program, pharmacokinetic monitoring, IV to PO conversions.
  • Manage drug therapy protocols as a part of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Review, interpret and evaluate medication orders to identify, prevent and resolve potential or actual drug related problems.
  • Provide drug information and education to medical staff, healthcare professionals, and patients, and pharmacy students.
  • Document interventions and their outcomes for use in drug therapy quality improvement efforts.
  • Evaluate medication orders for accuracy and completeness prior to order entry. Check for accuracy after filling by technicians.
  • Maintain adequate knowledge of pharmacy automated systems and computer software.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Current NC Pharmacy licensure, or must be completed within 90 days of hire by either examination or reciprocity required.
  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Nice-to-haves

  • Ph. D./M.D./D.D.S. or Doctorate in Pharmacy preferred.
  • Minimum of two years of hospital pharmacy experience preferred.
  • Computer: Microsoft Office Suite, strong Excel & Outlook, Meditech preferred.
