About the position

The Pharmacy Inpatient Technician plays a crucial role in supporting the pharmacy department by assisting in the procurement, packaging, distribution, and control of medications for patients. This position operates under the supervision of a Pharmacist and is accountable to the Pharmacy Director, ensuring that all medication-related tasks are performed accurately and efficiently.

Responsibilities

• Assist the department in the procurement, packaging, distribution, and control of medication to patients.
• Receive and stock medications.
• Prepare unit dose, bulk, and intravenous medications for dispensing.
• Prepackage non-unit dose medications.
• Check Pyxis inventory and refill medications in Pyxis units.
• Provide delivery of doses.
• Prepare IV Admixtures.
• Demonstrate thorough knowledge of patients' right to confidentiality.

Requirements

• Must have basic math skills.
• National certification preferred or must be completed within one year.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Hospital pharmacy experience preferred.
