About the position

The Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) at TGH Rehabilitation Hospital plays a crucial role in providing high-quality inpatient rehabilitation services to patients with acute physical limitations. This position involves working under the guidance of a supervising Physical Therapist to implement comprehensive treatment programs, ensuring that patients progress towards independent living. The PTA will be part of an interdisciplinary team dedicated to superior patient care in a supportive environment.

Responsibilities

  • Acquire pertinent information and implement comprehensive programs using varied techniques and treatment activities.
  • Review and modify treatment in response to changing patient needs.
  • Identify equipment and discharge needs for patients.
  • Assist patients in preparation for treatment/modality as necessary.
  • Provide treatment to diverse diagnostic populations and complete supporting documentation according to hospital policy and State Practice Act.
  • Communicate and collaborate with support personnel regarding treatment orders as directed by the supervising PT.
  • Apply physical agents, therapeutic exercises, or gait-training activities as outlined by the licensed PT in the patient Plan of Care (POC).
  • Progress patients in an appropriate manner when deemed necessary by the PT.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Current state licensure as a Physical Therapy Assistant.
  • Previous experience in the care of patients preferred.
  • Current BLS/CPR certification.
