About the position

The Physician Assistant Cardiology specializing in Electrophysiology (EP) is a licensed healthcare provider who delivers direct patient care and has prescriptive authority. This role involves working in a specialty clinic, providing medical care in accordance with the supervising physician's guidelines, and may include various medical specialties. The position focuses on assessing patient conditions, formulating treatment plans, and managing patient care in both inpatient and outpatient settings.

Responsibilities

  • Assess the physical and mental condition of patients through comprehensive examinations and medical histories.
  • Order, collect, interpret, and evaluate laboratory and diagnostic tests to assess patient health needs.
  • Prescribe and recommend medical therapies and perform procedures according to approved protocols.
  • Formulate and implement comprehensive treatment plans based on patient assessments and evidence-based medicine.
  • Evaluate patient responses to healthcare provided and the effectiveness of care.
  • Counsel patients and families on medical processes, health management, and nutrition.
  • Maintain detailed records of patient treatment plans and outcomes.
  • Initiate timely consultations and referrals when necessary.
  • Provide consultation services for conditions related to the provider's specialty.
  • Manage patients in various healthcare settings beyond the primary clinic.

Requirements

  • Current license to practice as a Physician Assistant in the state of Texas.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of hire or transfer.
  • Current certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistant (NCCPA).
  • Knowledge of diagnosis and treatment of human injuries, diseases, and deformities.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Critical thinking and complex problem-solving skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a specialty clinic setting.
  • Familiarity with electronic health records and related software applications.
