About the position

Baylor Scott & White Health is seeking a Physician Assistant to join their Vascular Team in Temple, Texas. This role involves providing direct patient care, collaborating with healthcare professionals, and managing both adult and pediatric patients in various surgical specialties. The Physician Assistant will be responsible for assessing patient conditions, formulating treatment plans, and performing necessary procedures, all while adhering to the highest standards of care within an integrated healthcare system.

Responsibilities

• Assess the physical and mental condition of patients through comprehensive examinations and medical histories.
• Order, collect, interpret, and evaluate laboratory and diagnostic tests to assess patient needs.
• Prescribe and recommend medical therapies and perform procedures in accordance with approved policies.
• Formulate and implement comprehensive patient treatment plans based on assessments and evidence-based medicine.
• Evaluate patient responses to healthcare provided and the effectiveness of care.
• Counsel patients and families regarding medical processes, management of health conditions, and health promotion.
• Maintain detailed records of patient treatment plans and outcomes.
• Initiate timely consultations and referrals when necessary.
• Provide consultation services for conditions related to the provider's specialty.
• Manage patients in various healthcare settings, including inpatient and emergency services.
• Perform invasive procedures as delegated by the supervising physician.
• Conduct follow-up with patients pre- and post-operatively.

Requirements

• Current license to practice as a Physician Assistant in the state of Texas.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of hire or transfer.
• Current certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
• Knowledge of diagnosis and treatment techniques for human injuries and diseases.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Interpersonal skills and critical thinking abilities.
• Skill in using computers and related software applications.
