About the position

The Plumber/Maintenance Technician will perform general maintenance and repairs for assigned equipment and facilities including plumbing, electrical, basic carpentry, heating and cooling, and other building systems.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine inspections, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of plumbing systems.
  • Install new plumbing systems and fixtures.
  • Respond to emergency plumbing calls.
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed.
  • Inspect and identify equipment or machines in need of repair.
  • Troubleshoot issues to determine necessary repairs.
  • Plan repair work using building’s blueprints or equipment manual as needed.
  • Perform general repairs that do not require a specialized technician, such as repairing drywall, painting, and repairing doors and other building fixtures.
  • Perform routine maintenance on building systems.
  • Clean and assist with upkeep of the facilities.
  • Order supplies and materials needed for repairs and maintenance.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Related experience preferred.
  • On-the-job training offered.
  • Technical knowledge of plumbing systems.
  • Physical strength and stamina.
  • Problem-solving skills.
  • Manual dexterity.
  • Interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to read blueprints, building codes, and understand local plumbing codes and regulations.
  • Skills in using diagnostic tools, power tools, and maintenance software.
  • Ability to follow instructions from supervisors or senior maintenance workers.
  • Knowledge of general carpentry and repair.
  • Ability to use hand tools and power tools.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
