About the position

The Produce Manager at Price Rite is responsible for overseeing the Produce department, ensuring maximum sales, maintaining store conditions, and protecting company assets. This role involves leading a team, managing inventory, and ensuring compliance with company standards while delivering excellent customer service. The Produce Manager plays a crucial role in achieving the company's operational objectives and enhancing the shopping experience for customers.

Responsibilities

  • Manage, supervise, and provide leadership to 10-15 team members in the store.
  • Interview, hire, and train associates; plan, assign, and direct work; appraise performance; reward and discipline associates; address complaints and resolve problems.
  • Maintain store conditions per company standard to improve profitability.
  • Maximize department sales and profits.
  • Develop and maintain a team concept to improve associate morale, communications, non-union status, and working conditions.
  • Achieve or surpass productivity and payroll goals in each department.
  • Maintain customer service levels according to company standards.
  • Comply with company and governmental sanitation standards.
  • Ensure weekly on-hand inventory goals through proper ordering practices.
  • Manage the recruitment, development, training, and counseling of all associates.
  • Establish a working relationship with all support staff and supervisors.
  • Develop a daily/weekly workload plan, coordinate responsibilities, and follow through to maximize results.
  • Execute merchandising directives.
  • Ensure proper maintenance and safe use of equipment.
  • Responsible for opening or closing the store, where applicable.
  • Establish community involvement.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree (A. A.) from a two-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or associates of the organization.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
