About the position

The Enterprise Strategy & Architecture (ES&A) is a centralized architecture group within the Information Technology department. The group supports PG&E's safety, reliability, and affordability goals under the architecture mandate of Reuse, Rationalize, Optimize, and Standardize. Reporting to the Lead Enterprise Architect, the successful candidate in the role will be a Master Planner with a big picture mindset responsible for turning the architecture vision for the business domain into reality by developing a thorough understanding of the business processes, application portfolio, and underlying IT infrastructure. The role involves suggesting technology needs to enable business maturity, creating business architecture models, owning the architecture of a portfolio of applications, and aligning enterprise strategy with PG&E True North Strategy Goals. The candidate will also help build and maintain prioritized portfolio backlogs, deliver reusable architecture patterns, and coach implementation teams throughout the value chain. This position is hybrid, working from a remote office and the Oakland, CA office approximately 1 - 2 days per week, or more, based on business needs.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with executive and senior leadership to define system operations and grid modernization strategy.
  • Develop and maintain technology roadmaps to support PG&E's goals.
  • Partner with business to develop technology roadmaps for ongoing ADMS and DERMS Initiatives.
  • Assess current IT application environment for operational technology, smart grid, and microgrid, and develop future IT architecture.
  • Lead vendor assessments, support RFP's and application rationalization efforts.
  • Support IT strategic planning and portfolio modernization process for the portfolio.
  • Coordinate roadmaps across enterprise groups to manage conflicts, redundancies, and interdependencies.
  • Collaborate with domain enterprise architects to ensure strategies, standards, design patterns, and roadmaps are consistent and integrated.
  • Support project delivery and provide enterprise architecture view to support solution designs.
  • Stay updated with developments in AI, edge computing, and other emerging industry segments within the portfolio.
  • Be a self-starter, able to solve complex issues with cross-functional teams, and thrive in a fast-moving, agile environment.

Requirements

  • BA/BS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related subject or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 10 years of enterprise architecture experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in Utilities with experience in at least one or more of the following focus areas: Grid Modernization, Asset/Work Management, ADMS, SCADA, and DERMS.
  • Master's degree in computer science, Engineering, Business, or a related field.
  • Experience with technologies in the Grid Modernization and Operations technology (OT), Asset and Work Management.
  • Architecture implementation experience in one of the following: ADMS, SCADA, and/or DERMS.
  • Excellent Communication and Interpersonal skills.
  • High-energy, passionate, and positive outlook with strong sense of ownership.
  • Experience or familiarity with diverse set of application development technologies and platforms.
  • Good understanding of business and data architecture, business capability mapping, and business process reengineering.
  • Solution architecture, and project implementation experience.
  • Relevant architecture certification such as TOGAF.

Benefits

  • Salary range: Bay Area Minimum: $155,000.00, Bay Area Maximum: $265,000.00.
  • Eligible to participate in PG&E's discretionary incentive compensation programs.
