Raytheon is hiring a Principal Java Software Engineer to support our teams in Richardson, Texas. You will have the opportunity to directly impact the world around you and contribute to classified programs and technologies you are passionate about. In this role, you will use your solid foundation in Java and experience working in a Linux environment to comprehend customer needs and translate those needs into viable design solutions.

  • Opportunity to use your understanding of software principles, theories, and concepts related to software engineering (including software development lifecycle and software development process), design patterns, and Object Oriented architecture.
  • Design, build, and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable code.
  • Demonstrate your critical thinking skills with the ability to communicate concepts and ideas well.
  • Obtain and maintain SCI program access and complete polygraphs.
  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM), and a minimum of 8 years of Software Engineering experience.
  • Experience with Java, Git, and Bash shell scripting.
  • Experience with Dockers, Helm, and Kubernetes for development and management of containerized applications.
  • Experience with AWS Cloud Technologies.
  • An active and transferable Top Secret security clearance that can be crossed over to a TS/SCI security clearance is required prior to start date.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
  • A degree in Computer Science.
  • Ability to work in cross-functional teams, collaborate with DevOps engineers, and communicate technical details clearly.
  • Experience with Spring/Springboot is highly preferred.
  • Experience with C++.
  • Experience with the Atlassian suite.
  • Experience with JUnits and/or Cucumber testing.
  • Experience with Python for automation and managing scripts that interact with container systems.
  • Experience with Bash writing shell scripts for automating tasks related to containerization.
  • Experience with container technology creating, managing, and optimizing Docker containers.
  • Experience with container orchestration, including deploying, scaling, and managing containers in a Kubernetes cluster.
  • Experience with EC2, EKS, S3, and other cloud services to support containerized environments.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills, especially in complex containerized environments.
