As a Principal Software Engineer at Red Hat, you’ll be working on new features and core backend services of the Red Hat Advanced Cluster Security (RHACS) platform, which will help our customers safely run the world’s largest commercial OpenShift and Kubernetes clusters in private and public clouds. Our engineering team is small but mighty and that means you’ll be able to make an immediate impact on the product, APIs, architecture, and engineering processes. With OpenShift and Kubernetes adoption rapidly growing, our team constantly faces new challenges like simplifying our customer deployments, improving performance to support new workloads, and safely integrating machine learning and AI into our security product – all of this ensures our product just works for both experts and those getting started with OpenShift and Kubernetes.

  • Design, build, maintain, and test core backend services and APIs for the Red Hat Advanced Cluster Security (RHACS) platform
  • Work across our product, focusing on efficient data collection, event processing and ingestion, storage and persistence, as well as APIs and presentation
  • Collaborate with other engineers, product managers, and product designers to shape, build, and improve new and existing features
  • Own core areas of the product, lead their design, and be responsible for their quality and health
  • Assist our Customer Support team in troubleshooting and resolving customer issues
  • Improve engineering standards, tooling, and processes
  • Have the opportunity to build a personal brand and strengthen the company brand through technical blog posts and open-source contributions
  • Experience writing high-quality, maintainable software
  • Openness to learning new technologies, programming languages, and concepts
  • Experience with Go or similar programming language
  • Experience delivering high-quality software through a principled, 'design document-first' approach
  • Experience with building extensible and maintainable APIs
  • Experience with scalable distributed systems
  • Knowledge of OpenShift or Kubernetes; experience with policies, Helm charts and admission controllers
  • Experience working in a collaborative environment with different stakeholders and subject matter experts
