About the position

At Apex International, we pride ourselves on being a high-quality manufacturer of over the counter personal care, and household products. We create collaborative partnerships with customers ranging from global Fortune 100 companies to entrepreneurial start-ups. We are currently seeking a Product and Packaging Engineer at either our Eden Prairie or Chaska location. This role will report to the VP of Maintenance and Engineering and will plan and implement product and packaging designs to ensure product integrity and appeal. The packaging engineer's primary duties include supervising and managing the complete product and packaging development process, analyzing engineering drawings, and conducting periodic vendor reviews. This role will work closely with product development, suppliers, planning, sourcing, and production throughout all phases of the development process.

Responsibilities

  • Identify creative and innovative product and packaging options that fit the voice of the brand and meet the vision of our CPG clients.
  • Support development launches with transit testing needs.
  • Manage within the timelines of the new product development process.
  • Work with the production team to ensure project feasibility.
  • Collaborate with the in-house project manager to determine product run feasibility and product timelines.
  • Review and approve component submissions during development.
  • Provide strong cross-department communication regarding new product launches.

Requirements

  • 3 to 5 years of relevant product and packaging experience, preferably in the beauty or personal care industry.
  • Packaging/Mechanical engineering degree or similar preferred, but not required.
  • Experience collaborating with end clients, ideally CPG clients.
  • Strong core beauty or personal care and package engineering skills and disciplines.
  • Ability to operate efficiently and multi-task.
  • Superior organization, communication, consensus building, and sense of task urgency skills.
  • Attention to detail and good organizational skills.
  • Ability to adapt quickly and learn new software tools/systems.
  • Limited traveling is required, especially to our two production facilities in Eden Prairie and Chaska.
