About the position

The incumbent is responsible for the management, profitability and evolution of the product line, from the development phase to obsolescence. For these products, he or she is responsible for documenting customer needs, analyzing the competition, positioning the product, bringing the product strategy to life within the sales force, as well as managing the evolution of the line in order to maximize its performance, in full coherence with the business model. In addition, depending on their skills, they may be required to take on other responsibilities within the product management team.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the alignment of the product range with the company's overall strategy (target markets, applications, competitive positioning, margins, promotion, etc.) with the marketing and sales teams
  • Play a key role in the new product launch phase under his/her responsibility, in collaboration with the marketing team
  • Assist technical experts in answering technical and commercial questions, offer effective direct customer support, and demonstrate products (in-customer and internal)
  • As a product expert, assist sales and marketing in the qualification of opportunities and offer effective support to key accounts
  • Maintain the documentation required for the product line on an ongoing basis, and design sales tools to support the achievement of the line's objectives
  • Participate in the review of bids for specific calls for tenders, in collaboration with other experts
  • Work with multidisciplinary teams (sales, applications, engineering and production) to develop product specifications based on market needs and business strategy
  • Be available for occasional travel within Canada and abroad

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in engineering or science
  • 3 years of relevant experience in product management, technical sales, or application resolution
  • Working knowledge of marketing concepts and product development processes
  • Ability to effectively document specifications and requirements, and generate product roadmaps
  • Proven ability to develop and deliver impactful presentations (incl. storytelling) to a technical audience and strong active listening skills
  • Autonomy, enthusiasm and ability to mobilize stakeholders (employees, customers, partners)
  • Sharp judgment, professionalism, rigor, including meeting deadlines and organizing work
