About the position

The position involves developing, drafting, and delivering expertly worded contract language (policy/coverage forms and endorsements) to meet market demand and support corporate underwriting appetite while safeguarding CNA's financial assets.

Responsibilities

  • Develops, revises, and maintains policy forms and endorsements for all CNA Specialty product lines, with special emphasis on Financial Lines Cyber, Errors & Omissions and Media products.
  • Responsible for overseeing the product through its lifecycle to meet the demands of the market, regulatory environment, and underwriting staff.
  • Cultivates deep expertise and thought leadership on Financial Lines products.
  • Provides counsel to underwriters and product leaders on strategic issues associated with drafting policy forms and endorsements.
  • Proactively identifies potential enhancements and advises colleagues on coverage interpretations.
  • Reviews and approves product-related marketing material, ensuring compliance with insurance laws.
  • Monitors, evaluates and advises business areas regarding state/federal legislative and regulatory activity.
  • Participates in insurance product-related training and onboarding of underwriters and other personnel.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor required and bar admission in a jurisdiction.
  • Typically a minimum of seven years related work experience reflecting a combination of insurance product drafting, product development, and/or coverage.
  • Excellent knowledge of insurance business including product development, underwriting, claim, legal, and regulatory.
  • In depth knowledge of insurance contracts (particularly Cyber, E&O and other Specialty insurance contracts), coverage, and regulatory issues.
  • Ability to problem-solve and analyze coverage issues.
  • Strong interpersonal skills required to interact effectively with relevant business areas and external contacts.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to handle difficult and sensitive situations.
  • Excellent computer skills including strong working knowledge in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe, and other business related software systems.
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task.
