About the position

The Production Planner is responsible for developing high-level production schedules to ensure efficient operations and product availability. This role involves translating customer demand into production sequences, coordinating with internal departments, and leveraging systems such as Microsoft Excel and our IBM AS/400-based DMS system to support inventory and workflow accuracy.

Responsibilities

  • Translate customer orders and forecasts into efficient, sequential production schedules.
  • Analyze production specifications, capacity data, and inventory levels to determine required production processes.
  • Schedule workflow across departments and lines based on lead times and production priorities.
  • Optimize sequences to improve efficiency and reduce downtime.
  • Communicate with department supervisors to monitor project status and resolve issues.
  • Identify and address delays; adjust schedules as needed to meet delivery goals.
  • Utilize Microsoft Excel and DMS (AS/400-based system) to manage planning and inventory data.
  • Collaborate with procurement, warehousing, and quality teams to align schedules and materials.
  • Maintain accurate production records and generate planning reports.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support production planning and plant operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Operations Management, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • 2 to 5 years of experience in production planning, manufacturing, or related roles.
  • Experience with DMS or other IBM AS/400-based inventory systems preferred.
  • APICS CPIM certification or similar planning credential is a plus.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, formulas, and macros.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Familiarity with manufacturing planning systems and inventory control.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong understanding of production and plant processes.
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English fluently.

Nice-to-haves

  • APICS CPIM certification or similar planning credential is a plus.
