The Purchasing Specialist is responsible for procurement activities of the parts, materials, supplies, and services needed for all equipment, operations, and facility maintenance and maintaining appropriate levels of stock.
Responsibilities
Become proficient in the SAP system.
Serve as the first point of contact for special order requests and coordinate the timely processing thereof.
Complete daily tasks, ensuring all priority requests are promptly and efficiently addressed.
Work closely with Maintenance Dept to identify and procure critical parts and services for the plant.
Prepare and issue purchase orders for parts, materials, services and supplies for stock and special orders.
Review and issue purchase order requests from various functional areas.
Work closely with Accounts Payable and vendors to review and reconcile purchases for payment.
Assist all functional areas with purchasing needs and transfer requests.
Review open purchase orders for updated delivery schedules and communicate findings to functional leaders as necessary.
Consolidate purchase orders to minimize freight costs.
Maintain accurate and sufficient inventory levels of parts, materials, and supplies.
Track all orders, update P.O. specific terms and pricing as necessary, and prepare and file purchasing related documentation.
Attend departmental training, such as safety and equipment training.
Wear required PPE and observe health, safety, and environmental policies.
Exhibit the values and ethics of Dairy Farmers of America through honesty, discretion, and sound judgment.
Assist in reconciling shipments to ensure billing accuracy.
Other duties and tasks as assigned.
Requirements
High School Diploma or GED Required.
Prior purchasing experience preferred.
Team player.
Ability to interact in a positive way with all personnel within Dairy Farmers of America.
Knowledge of use and programming in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
