About the position

This position is responsible for documenting specific disease processes through photography and other imaging devices, as requested by Physicians, functioning as the clinic employee health RN, and assisting with pre-surgical patient screening. This individual will assist with training clinic wide to include handling medical emergencies. This position is also responsible for administration of Injectable dyes and therapeutic infusions. This position may include traveling to multiple Spokane Eye Clinics locations as assigned by the Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Insertion of intravenous line to inject sodium fluorescein for diagnostic testing procedures as ordered by physicians.
  • Performs the following tests as ordered by a physician: Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT), Humphrey Visual Field Testing (HVF), Goldmann Visual Field Testing (GVF), tangent screen visual field testing, Color vision testing (Ishihara, HRR, and D15), Pachymetry, Fundus and autofluorescence photography (Optos), endothelial microscopy, corneal topography, and B-scan ultrasonography.
  • Functions as employee health RN by ordering and administering vaccinations to staff and providers, and testing of staff as needed (TB, Hep B, Other).
  • Assists with laser procedures as requested in clinic (PDT, Yag, SLT), draws blood for samples in research.
  • Functions as the first responder to clinical emergencies.
  • Provides educational training for clinical staff on first responder duties: blood pressure readings, vitals, oxygen tank handling, proper method for transferring patients and general medical knowledge.
  • Coordinates medical pre-assessments for the surgery center.
  • Assists research as a back-up, unmasked coordinator for logging and dispersing clinical trial medications. May involve data entry into EDC (Electronic Data Capture system).
  • Responsible for ordering and maintaining supplies for emergency kit.
  • Participates in professional, skill and business-related continuing education.
  • Participates in departmental meetings.
  • May be asked to work on projects or complete delegated assignments as needed.

Requirements

  • Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Zero (0) – two (2) years of related experience and/or training
  • RN License from Washington State or Multi-State License from the Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook, and ability to learn other software programs as needed
  • Ability to gain additional certifications as needed for clinical studies

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of Practice Management, EHR EHR/NextGen software
  • BLS Certified Instructor
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing
