About the position

The Registered Nurse (RN) in Hospice Care at AdventHealth provides essential after-hours nursing services to hospice patients, ensuring they receive timely and compassionate care in their home environment. This role involves responding to patient emergencies, assessing conditions, and coordinating care with interdisciplinary teams, all while embodying the mission-driven values of the organization.

Responsibilities

• Provide after-hours nursing services to hospice patients through scheduled and unscheduled visits.
• Respond to patient emergencies and assess their condition based on urgent needs.
• Communicate patient conditions to Triage and Case Management staff and follow their instructions.
• Perform nursing procedures such as inserting catheters and administering intravenous medications if credentialed.
• Educate patients' families and caregivers on hospice care services.
• Coordinate patient needs for medications and medical equipment with the Triage Nurse.
• Deliver patient supplies and pick up prescriptions from the pharmacy.
• Communicate pertinent patient information to interdisciplinary teams and Patient Care Managers.

Requirements

• Associate's Degree in Nursing.
• Minimum of 3 years' experience as a Registered Nurse.
• Active Florida Registered Nurse license.
• Basic Life Support Certification.
• Current, valid Florida Driver's License with a safe driving record.
• Reliable vehicle and valid personal automobile insurance.

Nice-to-haves

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
• Home health and/or acute care nursing experience preferred.
