The Registered Nurse (T&RC) at Stony Brook Medicine plays a vital role in diagnosing and treating health problems through nursing methods and techniques. This part-time position focuses on providing supportive and restorative care while adhering to medical regimens, ensuring patient well-being, and collaborating with other health disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Assess the patient's condition and nursing needs.
• Coordinate nursing care activities with other health disciplines.
• Develop a written individualized care plan including teaching needs and discharge planning.
• Administer direct care when professional nursing skills and judgment are needed.
• Administer medications.
• Practice infection control and maintain a clean and safe environment.
• Assume responsibility and accountability for the delivery of nursing care to all assigned patients.
• Communicate changes in patient's condition to Charge RN/Clinician.
• Develop and maintain a current written plan of care for assigned patients.
• Set priorities to meet the patient's needs and goals with the patient and/or family.
• Provide documented evidence in the medical record of patient/family teaching and their responses.
• Communicate and work effectively with other staff and departments.
• Participate in unit or hospital-based quality assurance activities.

Requirements

• Possession of or eligibility for a license to practice as a registered nurse in New York State.
• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (preferred).
• At least one year of previous hospital acute care experience (preferred).
