About the position

The Research Assistant position at Rutgers University-Newark's Center for Molecular & Behavioral Neuroscience (CMBN) involves providing essential research support under the guidance of the Principal Investigator and Lab Manager. The role focuses on administering neuropsychological tests, managing data and databases, and ensuring compliance with research protocols. The assistant will also engage in community outreach and educational programs, contributing to the lab's mission of advancing neuroscience research.

Responsibilities

• Administer neuropsychological tests to human subjects
• Manage and report data for multiple projects
• Manage databases and subject files
• Screen and schedule research subjects
• Handle sensitive information regarding subject participation
• Manage student workers in the lab
• Communicate key updates at lab meetings
• Assist the Lab Manager with IRB Continuing Review applications and preparation of lab documents
• Work in compliance with laboratory procedures and policies

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a scientific/technical discipline or equivalent experience
• Experience in conducting and/or managing human behavioral research
• Experience with administering neuropsychological assessments
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
• Ability to interface with the public, especially older African Americans
• Willingness to be trained in various research protocols and assessments

Nice-to-haves

• Graduate degree
• Experience in writing research protocols, grants, and scientific publications
• Experience with the administration and interpretation of neuropsychological assessments
