About the position

The Residential Coach (RC) position at HER Campaign is a vital role dedicated to supporting survivors of human trafficking. The RC is responsible for facilitating day-to-day programming at the Emergency Shelter, providing compassionate, trauma-informed care, and maintaining a safe and nurturing environment for residents. This role involves collaboration with clinical staff and other team members to empower survivors on their healing journey, ensuring they receive the necessary support and resources for recovery.

Responsibilities

  • Support Daily Shelter Operations by ensuring a clean, organized, and safe living environment for residents.
  • Facilitate Programming by assisting in the implementation of daily schedules, group activities, educational programs, and life skills training.
  • Provide Trauma-Informed Support by offering emotional and practical support to residents and helping de-escalate situations as needed.
  • Maintain Resident Documentation by keeping accurate records of resident interactions, progress, incidents, and daily activities.
  • Collaborate with Staff to coordinate care, communicate resident needs, and develop individualized plans for resident growth and recovery.
  • Assist residents in Empowerment and Advocacy by helping them set and achieve personal goals and access community resources.
  • Ensure Safety and Compliance by adhering to HER Campaign policies and relevant state regulations.
  • Assist with Crisis Management and stabilization for residents during emotional distress.
  • Help residents with Life Skills Training for independent living, including budgeting and personal care.
  • Provide Transportation Assistance for residents to essential services and appointments.
  • Build meaningful relationships with residents through Mentorship and Encouragement.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Previous experience in a shelter, residential program, or related field working with trauma survivors is highly desirable.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed practices and a commitment to empowering survivors of human trafficking.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to transport residents safely to and from appointments.
  • Must pass a background check and meet all legal requirements to work with vulnerable populations.

Nice-to-haves

  • Associate's degree in social work, psychology, or a related field preferred.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, or holidays as needed.
