About the position

The Registered Nurse (RN) is a licensed professional responsible for coordinating patient care delivery within the healthcare team. Utilizing the nursing process, the RN assesses patients, identifies nursing diagnoses, develops and implements individualized care plans, and evaluates patient responses. The RN ensures safe transitions for patients through the healthcare system, delegating tasks according to the Texas Nursing Practice Act and the competencies of healthcare personnel. This role encompasses both inpatient and outpatient settings, requiring 24/7 staffing availability.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct accurate clinical assessments according to practice standards.
  • Identify and prioritize patient and family needs.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate the nursing plan of care.
  • Modify care plans to meet clinical outcomes.
  • Evaluate the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice.
  • Participate in quality/performance improvement initiatives.
  • Create a safe and therapeutic environment for patients and families.
  • Develop therapeutic relationships with patients and families.
  • Manage pain to promote relief and healing.
  • Incorporate patients' unique differences into care plans.
  • Preserve and protect patient confidentiality and rights.
  • Facilitate learning for patients, families, and healthcare team members.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to implement integrated care plans.
  • Delegate tasks to appropriate staff and ensure timely follow-up.
  • Use problem-solving strategies for patient care.
  • Participate in mutual governance and decision-making processes.
  • Engage in ongoing professional growth and community service.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
  • Registered Nurse (RN) certification.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or obtain within 30 days of hire.
  • Knowledge of nursing and patient care standards and procedures.
  • Understanding of laws, rules, and regulations governing nursing care.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology and health promotion practices.
  • Knowledge of nursing ethics and patient privacy rights.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to observe and communicate changes in patients' conditions.
  • General computer skills, including Microsoft Office and electronic medical documentation.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in hospital inpatient and outpatient departments.
  • Familiarity with electronic medical records systems.
