About the position

The Operating Room (OR) Registered Nurse (RN) is a licensed professional responsible for coordinating patient care delivery in the operating room. This role involves assessing patients, developing individualized care plans, and ensuring safe transitions through the healthcare process. The RN utilizes clinical judgment and inquiry to enhance nursing practices and patient outcomes while advocating for patient rights and facilitating learning among patients and healthcare team members.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct accurate clinical assessments according to practice standards.
  • Identify and prioritize patient and family needs.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate the nursing plan of care.
  • Modify care plans to meet clinical outcomes.
  • Evaluate the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice.
  • Participate in quality/performance improvement initiatives.
  • Create a safe and therapeutic environment for patients and families.
  • Develop therapeutic relationships with patients and families.
  • Manage pain to promote relief and healing.
  • Incorporate patients' unique differences into care plans.
  • Preserve and protect patient confidentiality and rights.
  • Facilitate learning for patients, families, and healthcare team members.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to implement integrated care plans.
  • Delegate tasks to appropriate staff and ensure timely follow-up.
  • Use problem-solving strategies for patient care.
  • Participate in mutual governance and professional development.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program or 2 years of relevant work experience.
  • 2 years of nursing experience in a clinical setting.
  • Registered Nurse (RN) certification.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or obtain within 30 days of hire.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in an operating room setting.
  • Advanced nursing certifications or specializations.
