About the position

The Environmental Engineer (Wastewater & Waste) at SABIC is a vital role focused on ensuring compliance with water and waste regulations at the Ottawa site. This position is part of the Environmental, Health, Safety, and Sustainability (EHSS) team and involves managing regulatory programs, collaborating with various stakeholders, and implementing initiatives to enhance environmental performance and operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Provide site leadership for assigned regulatory programs in Water, Waste, Land, & Hazardous Materials.
• Act as point of contact for Environmental compliance issues within manufacturing operations for assigned areas/medias.
• Work with Regional EHSS in the preparation and submission of Regulatory Permit applications (NPDES) and reporting requirements.
• Collaborate with area operations and sustainability leaders to meet environmental requirements and improve operating metrics.
• Implement programs that achieve both regulatory requirements and operational flexibility.
• Interface with Regional EHSS, Operations and Maintenance leaders, project engineers, and site management.
• Interact with Federal & State agencies and other sites to translate best practices.

Requirements

• BS degree in Engineering or a Technical Field.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience working in EHSS.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and other IT applications.
• Ability to collect and evaluate relevant data and study results.
• Experience with process programs including NPDES, BMP, RCRA, EPA, CWA, and other standards.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in Waste Water Treatment Processes and Boilerhouse Treatment Processes.
• Familiarity with Hazardous & Non-Hazardous Waste Management.
• Knowledge of SARA 311/312 Tier II, SARA 313 TRI, CDR, and Responsible Care 14001.
