About the position

The Sales Trainee position at Allied Mineral Products is designed for individuals looking to develop their sales skills in the refractory industry, specifically within the domestic foundry market. This training role aims to prepare candidates to eventually transition into a sales representative position, which involves selling refractory products and services. The role emphasizes building relationships with customers, understanding their needs, and providing tailored solutions while working independently from a home-based office after the initial training period.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain relationships with current and potential customers.
  • Work independently out of a home-based office with minimal direct supervision.
  • Identify customer needs and utilize resources within Allied to provide solutions.
  • Communicate regularly through Allied's customer relations management (CRM) system, documenting sales opportunities and activities.
  • Complete sales reports, forecasting, expense reports, and other reporting requirements in a timely manner.
  • Develop and complete sales quotations for customers to purchase Allied products and services.
  • Prospect new opportunities with current and new accounts and obtain purchase orders.
  • Interact with customer relations, accounting, and others to ensure orders are correctly entered and delivery is met.
  • Coordinate field service support if needed and document material installation and application.
  • Create case studies for new applications and work towards achieving sales and personal development goals.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor of Science Degree from an accredited college or equivalent experience in the metals industry or sales desired.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Solid interpersonal skills and self-motivated attitude.
  • Possess or be willing to obtain all required licenses and keep them current.
  • Comfortable utilizing Microsoft Office (Word, Power Point, Excel).

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in the metals industry or sales is preferred.
